The Ethereum (ETH) cryptocurrency is second in market cap only to Bitcoin (BTC) and ERC20 Tokens (built on top of the Ethereum blockchain), like Tether (USDT), are some of the most widely used and most preferred by criminals. Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) is also an ERC20 token.

I saw 2021 as the height of the Non-Fungible token (NFT) industries rise to fame, if you will. However, they are still going strong today. So many people have so much money (cryptocurrency) wrapped up in NFTs. They purchase NFTs for many reasons. Some love the art, some for investment, and some to be a part of a group. The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a good example of this where owners become part of an exclusive club with meet ups and events around the world. At one point, owning a BAYC NFT was a bigger flex than owning a Lambo.

People take their NFT collections very seriously like a traditional art collector would take their traditional physical art collection. The difference is that NFTs proof of ownership is stored on the blockchain. This means that ownership can be proven the same way it can be proven for cryptocurrency. If you have access to the public/private keys, if you control the wallet address, then you control the NFTs inside of that wallet address. That’s proof of ownership. However, this also leaves NFTs vulnerable to the same attacks that remove cryptocurrency from victim’s wallet addresses. They can be stolen in the same way that cryptocurrency can.

More and more victims are reporting their NFTs being stolen through non-custodial wallet compromises. You will learn more about those compromises and how they happen in this course as well.

So how do investigators track them down?
What tools can they use? Can it even be done?

Yes it can! More importantly, YOU can do it. You just need to know what you are looking at and what tools you have at your disposal. You will trace a stolen NFT, starting on OpenSea and then jumping over to Etherscan. You will see all of the detailed information that is available and how to read, understand, and document it.

In addition, you will be tracing the proceeds from the first sale of the stolen NFT after it was stolen. This is in the form of Wrapped Ethereum (WETH). You will even trace it through a swap (unwrapping) from Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) to Ethereum (ETH).

If you took my flagship course, or my focused breakout course on Tracing ETH/ERC20 Tokens through a DEX to a CEX, you will see how tracing through the “unwrapping” compares to tracing through a DEX. Very interesting to see when manually tracing and knowing what you are looking at like you will after you complete this course.

You will also be completing an exercise where you will unmask a the non-custodial wallet address owner who is currently holding the stolen NFT in their wallet address. You will learn about some of the intricacies of this as I understand them. Unmasking means attaching a face/name to a non-custodial wallet address. Being that non-custodial wallet address ownership is not readily identifiable and there is no one to subpoena to obtain that information, having the analytical skills to potentially make this happen is a big deal. It’s easier than you may think but you need to know where to look and you will have a strong starting point after completing this course.

This course content is also included in my FLAGSHIP course: Blockchain Basics + Cryptocurrency/Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Transaction Tracing for Investigators.

The course you are about to register for is shorter and focused on the specialized topic pulled from my flagship course. I found that a lot of people were interested in this specific topic so I created this break-out course to address it specifically. After taking this course, you will be offered an Alumni discount on the full course should you wish to take that as well.

ACESS FLAGSHIP COURSE $499

That's (3) empowering exercises in one course; tracing the stolen NFT, tracing the proceeds of the first sale after the NFT was stolen in the form of WETH, unmasking the non-custodial wallet address owner currently holding the stolen NFT. All (3) exercises with detailed written walkthroughs with screen shots and walkthrough videos.

  • This course shows you that you don’t always need access to paid advanced blockchain analytics to trace crypto and non-fungible token (NFT) transactions. In fact, not all paid advanced blockchain analytics tools have the ability to trace non-fungible token transactions. Even though some do, to an extent, I believe that being able to do it manually is the best way. You will see how helpful this skill is after you complete this course.
  • Yes, you will be using a powerful free open-source blockchain explorer for this course. The Practical Application Exercises have detailed written walkthroughs with screenshots plus video walkthroughs so you will understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.
  • After the NFT and WETH tracing exercises, there will be accompanying lessons where you will learn how to document the tracing that you just completed.
  • You will also complete a BONUS lesson teaching you how to use a powerful free tool inside of the open-source blockchain explorer that you will already be using to trace in this course.
  • The course also covers some of the basics of cryptocurrency and blockchain plus important relevant vocabulary.
  • After completion of this course you will automatically receive an emailed PDF certificate of completion.

This course is not all inclusive. You will learn a new and very valuable skill here. However, once you begin your cryptocurrency transaction tracing journey you will encounter things not covered in this course. That's how the cryptocurrency space is. Beware of anyone who sells a course with the promise of it being "the only course you need" because that just isn't true.

Once you get this specialized foundational knowledge and experience, however, it will make understanding other tracing situations that you encounter much easier.

Once you register and pay for this course you will have full access for 30 days. You will complete the course quicker than that but I want you to be able to go back over it more than once if you would like to get more practice.

After completion, your certificate of completion will be auto generated using the name that you registered with so make sure it's the name that you want on the certificate. The certificate will then be emailed to the email address that you registered with.

Most importantly, once you gain these skills and get this experience,
no one can take it away from you.

You can keep building from there.
